BUZZ BOOK RULES
SCCHE publishes a yearly Buzz Book that has names and
contact information for all SCCHE members. We try to get it published by
October of each year, but that does not always happen. Because of the
information shared in this book, we have a set of common courtesy rules that
should be followed whenever using the Buzz Book.
- All information included in the Buzz Book is only for the
use of homeschoolers in order to contact other homeschoolers, thus
facilitating communication among St. Charles area homeschoolers.
- No information in the Buzz Book may be shared with
businesses, homeschool or otherwise, either in the form of emails, addresses,
phone numbers, or any other information listed about a family. Information on
the number of people listed in this book should not even be shared.
- If you own a business, you are not to use the Buzz Book to
contact homeschoolers about your business, unless that homeschooler has
already contacted you on his or her own about your business and is interested
in utilizing your services.
- A SCCHE blanket email will be created from the email
addresses in the Buzz Book. This email will be shared with no one and will be
kept on one computer with a back up list on another computer. It will be used
for the express purpose of getting timely information out to the SCCHE body of
homeschoolers. This information includes: urgent prayer requests, dated
information that did not make it into the Slate in time, meeting reminders,
and legislative alerts. Each person signing up for the Buzz Book will have the
opportunity to ask not to be put on this blanket email. The email will include
the opportunity for anyone to request removal from the list.
- The SCCHE board requests that no one within SCCHE (or
anyone else) create a complete blanket email of the email addresses in the
Buzz Book. If you are interested in blanketing information to the group as a
whole, SCCHE requests that you send that information to the SCCHE person in
charge of sending out blanket emails. In this way, some control over
blanketing information to the whole group can be maintained.
- If you have a desire to blanket information to a group of
homeschoolers listed in the Buzz Book, we ask that you secure the permission
of each person you would like to include on your email list before you add
their email address to your blanket list.
- Remember, the Buzz Book is provided primarily as a support
to the members of SCCHE. It gives easy access to phone numbers, addresses, and
email addresses as well as information about kids’ ages, etc. It is not to be
abused.
