LEARNING CENTER INFORMATION

Partnering with Parents

At SCCHE, we believe God has given parents the responsibility to raise their children “in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4). Parents are the primary instructors and caregivers for their children, and they have the ultimate authority for their children’s education. The Learning Center exists to come alongside parents in that calling, not to take their place.

“Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” — Ephesians 6:4

What Is the Learning Center?

The SCCHE Learning Center offers Christ-centered, once-weekly, college-model classes for middle school and high school homeschoolers, especially in subjects that can be harder to teach at home. The classes are an adjunct to your student’s home education, not a replacement for it. Students receive assignments to complete at home during the week, under their parents’ supervision, and are expected to return to class with their work completed.

The Learning Center is designed to:

  • Provide supplemental classes in a Christ-centered environment.
  • Provide outside accountability for students.
  • Help with classes that are more difficult to teach at home (higher math and sciences, composition, foreign languages, etc.).
  • Help families continue homeschooling through high school.
  • Glorify the Lord Jesus Christ in all areas of instruction, activities, and fellowship.

The ultimate goal of all SCCHE classes and programs is to develop a love for learning that will equip each student to lead a successful life.

Who It’s For & When We Meet

High school classes (ages 14–18): Tuesdays
Middle school classes (ages 12–14): Thursdays

Some middle school students are ready for high school-level classes, such as foreign languages, science, and algebra. If you think your middle schooler is ready, please contact the class instructor before registering. Parents of 6th graders may also choose Thursday Learning Center classes in place of HeartStrong; it’s completely up to you which is best for your student.
